PICCOLO FONDO (42KM)

The Piccolo route is created solely for the recreational or beginner cyclists who wish to participate in the mass start and big group atmosphere. You will be part of the action riding with all the other fondo riders crossing the South Saskatchewan River, along Valley Road through the flood plains of the South Saskatchewan. You will be riding adjacent to some of the most fertile lands in all of the prairies. You will travel to the first rest stop for some well-deserved refreshments and maybe even a slice of Saskatoon Berry Pie! At this point you will retrace your ride and return to the Finish line at the Western Development Museum to enjoy free entrance into the museum and the Father’s Day Lunch. The Piccolo is a great ride for those looking for a pleasant countryside pedal to work up an appetite for a well-deserved celebration!

MEDIO FONDO (80KM)

If you feel ready to “step up” beyond the Piccolo distance then the Medio Fondo is for you. Following the same route as the Piccolo riders but then extending your ride to the picturesque Pike Lake provincial park and then retracing your ride back to Valley Road with a stop for Saskatoon Berry Pie along the way before returning to the finish line at the Western Development Museum.

GRAN FONDO ROUTE (125KM)

The Gran route is a lovely and challenging ride on quiet roads. You cycle the same route as the Piccolo and Medio riders but then you extend your ride through the agricultural landscape traversing alongside fields of canola, wheat and barely to the quintessential prairie town of Delisle. Experience the unique feeling of flying that only being on a bike in the presence of the prairie sky can bring.  Your 125KM journey is complete with your return from the west side of the South Saskatchewan River when you arrive back to the finish line at the Western Development Museum to celebrate your conquest.

GRAN-DADDY FONDO ROUTE (174KM)

What better way to celebrate Father’s Day then riding the “Gran-Daddy” of all the Prairie Gran Fondo distances!

For 2019 the Gran-Daddy route consists of two legs:

Leg 1 – The White Cap First Nation Dash: The first leg is a 49 KM out-and-back dash to the White Cap First Nation. Gran-Daddy riders will start their ride at 7:00AM sharp from the Prairie Gran Fondo festival site arriving back to start their second leg together with all the other PGF riders for the mass start at 9:30AM. Gran-Daddy riders will receive a separate time for this leg which will be added to their 2nd leg time for their overall time. Leg 1 glory could be yours should you or your team record the fastest Leg 1 time!

Note: Should slower Gran-Daddy riders not make it to the designated cut off point on Chief White Cap Trail by a certain time they will be turned around to ensure they are back to the festival site in time for the mass start at 9:30AM.

Leg 2 – The Valley Road/Delisle Run: The second leg of the Gran-Daddy route has the Gran-Daddy riders joining the rest of the Prairie Gran Fondo rides for the 9:30AM mass start and the official lead out by Saskatoon Police Services. Leg 2 of the Gran-Daddy route is identical to the Gran Fondo route with visits to Moon Lake Golf and Country Club, Pike Lake, Town of Delisle all the while enjoying the pastoral views from the saddle of your bike.
